Kenise Barnes Fine Art opens a new exhibition on Saturday evening June 1st. The show features the paintings of three New York artists. Peggy Bates, Jon McCafferty and Carolanna Parlato work through a similar process, with very different results. Spill, the show’s title, reflects the method these artists employ. Much indebted to Jackson Pollack and the action painters, many artists have been exploiting paint’s viscous qualities by pouring and dripping paint. With various degrees of interference the artists manipulate the paint and produce luscious, glossy surfaces that reflect paints innate seductiveness.
